As the second verse of “Alleluia! Alleluia! Let the Holy Anthem” describes,
“Alleluia! Alleluia! Like the sun from out the wave, He has risen up in triumph From the darkness of the grave. He’s the splendor of the nations, He’s the lamp of endless day! He’s the very Lord of glory, who has risen up today! “
It was with doubt and disappointment that the two travelers on the road to Emmaus proceeded when Jesus begins to walk along side them. Sometimes, we too are disappointed when things do not go our way. This verse from the hymn written by Edward Caswall (1814-1878) to the tune HOLY ANTHEM sheds an encouraging word when we doubt or become disappointed. For by rising from the dead, Jesus has changed the course of history and no matter what lies before us, we can overcome with the assurance this message contains.
