The Anima Christi proclaims, “At the hour of my death, call me.” Jesus calms our fears at the moment of death. You and I must live our whole lives for that moment of death and beyond. We are released from our earthly dwelling to something much greater…eternal life!
In our Second Reading for the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time within the second Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians, scripture talks about we, God’s creatures, no longer living for ourselves, but for the Lord. Afterall, it is our Lord who died and rose for ALL of us. It is up to each and everyone to answer His call, to believe and to live our lives well. We must have that faith which allows you and I to be aware of this gift of the Lord Jesus Christ so that we may deserve God’s eternal reward. We live with such purpose which affords us the perfect position to reap God’s heavenly realm.
For 23 June 2024, in the Gospel of Mark, we see the apostles having to learn step by step that faith which eventually gave them the ability to reach souls and thus help individuals realize their eternal reward. Jesus asks, “Do you not yet have faith?”
At the very hour of death, the song “You are Near” reminds us “You lead me in ways everlasting.” How so very beautiful is the jump from death to everlasting life with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit who reign in what will become our eternal home.
One must never lose hope and always live for the Lord! Will you be ready for the call?
