I am reflecting this weekend on the fourth verse of Marty Haugen’s “Eye Has Not Seen”
WE SING A MYSTERY FROM THE PAST, IN HALL’S WHERE SAINT’S HAVE TROD, YET EVER NEW THE MUSIC RINGS TO JESUS, LIVING SONG OF GOD.
Imagine! All of the faces we have seen passing through the doorways of the Cathedral of St. Mary! I have been a life- time parishioner and have seen many faces over the years. It is clear that many of these faces were saints among us. It is clear that in the present day, there are also saints among us. Do you want to be a saint? I know I sure do! Do you feel unworthy? I know I sure do! The great mystery is centered on Jesus, who at the end of our mortal life will draw us to himself. We get a glimpse of that beauty each time the Paschal mystery is represented in the form of bread and wine! We get a glimpse of that beauty each time we recognize that mystery in those around us. May we approach the God of grace with a song in our hearts! May we sing with one voice to the glory and splendor of the mystery!
