The Gospel reading from Mark this weekend can prepare us for the upcoming Lenten season. The question we need to ask ourselves, “Do we wish to be made clean?” Hopefully, the answer is an astounding Yes. If we do not will to be made clean, the only other alternative is to remain “unclean”. It is the desire to the human heart to love. If we love, as God has loved us, we can be made clean. Valentine’s Day, the secular holiday on the calendar this weekend, gives us the reminder to love. World Marriage Week reminds us that the love of God is best displayed in the love between husband and wife. We also learn to love by having the Holy Family as an example. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us.
Here is some music that call us to be clean and to love. Let this music transform you.
Finally, this is Black History Month. As we celebrate cultural diversity, here is the Parish Youth choir performing “Oh When the Saints Go Marching In” and “This Train”.
