This week we have the story of Emmaus where the Lord appears on the road and the villagers come to know him in the breaking of the bread. At communion time, at most Masses this weekend, we will sing “In the Breaking of the Bread” by Timothy Smith. The seventh verse states in making reference to 1 Corinthians, “Is not the cup, Christ outpoured, our God? One bread, one cup, show our oneness in God.” Let us sing as one Body of Christ this beautiful hymn of recognition of Christ in His mystical body, that is, in our hearts,in which we receive His very self, and in every person we meet. https://bit.ly/41e8IhH “In the Breaking of the Bread” by Timothy Smith
We also will sing for the remainder of the Easter season, the Mass of Renewal Glory to God and the Mass of the Resurrection Holy, Save us, Amen and Lamb of God throughout the Easter season at most Masses. The daily Mass congregation has been reviewing these parts all week. Listen around you! The parts are in a comfortable register of the voice, the rhythm patterns are simple and the parts will come out in the organ accompaniment with the leadership of the cantor. Last Easter season , we sang “Save us Savior” and “Lamb of God” from this Mass setting. So, these will come out a little stronger at first. The good news is that the Easter season is the longest season, so we have a longer period of time in learning them. The Mass setting begins with #868 in the Breaking Bread 2022 hymnal. https://bit.ly/3A2WVGK Mass of the Resurrection by Randall DeBruyn
