Psalm 138: 5 “When I called you answered me; you built up strength within me.”
Are you afraid to act? I know I find myself often afraid to act. Sometimes, however, I am too soon to act. In each circumstance, we can gain strength by calling on the angels and saints to assist us. With that consolation and support, we can be more confident in acting as agents of God’s voice.
I have the added support of living with two angels. As we were dating, I called Karen, my wife, “Angel”. We named our daughter, Angela, whose name means “littlest angel”. I rely on these two “angels” in addition to the angels and saints in heaven.
Sometimes in life, we are the ones in need of support. In other times, we are called to support others. Parents being supportive to their children, taking care of an elderly parent, and being present to the sick and the dying are examples.
The song “The Summons” by John L. Bell states in the second verse, “Would you risk the hostile stare, should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me.” Let us lean on each other. It is worth the risk!
Here is the music presented this weekend at most Masses.
