The hymn “King of My Heart” by Greg Walton will be sung at communion time this Sunday at many of the Masses. The reoccurring prayer petition at the end of each phrase is “make us whole”. A good synonym for “whole” is “complete”. Each of us are endowed with a soul. To prepare our “inner soul” for eternity, requires some effort and desire. It requires yielding control, complete surrender to the will of God. It requires an acknowledgement of our total dependence on God. It requires humbling ourselves, and allowing God to pick us up when we fall. Our God is complete love! How amazing to think of this! What is keeping us from loving God in return? What is keeping us from loving the God who created us? What is preventing us from loving others? In order to make the Lord “king of our hearts”, we need to literally chip away at grasping little by little all that our Lord has in mind for us, not what we desire of ourselves, but what our Lord desires of us. One way, to grow closer is to receive the Eucharist as often as possible. When we come to Eucharist, we eat his Body and drink his Blood. We receive a tiny morsel of what appears to be bread, but what is our Lord’s flesh. We drink of what appears to be wine, but it is his very blood. Another way, is to spend time with him in adoration. Consider spending this time after the 12 Noon Mass this Sunday. There will be some reflective music intermingled with moments of silence. Music can be a way to listen to the voice of Christ speaking to your hearts. It is time well spent! Consider spending some time with the Lord and be transformed.
