The second reading for this weekend relates to the hymn we will sing at most Masses at the preparation and presentation of the gifts. The hymn is “For the Sake of Christ” by Ken Canedo. The second reading is taken from 2 Corinthians 5:6-10. St. Paul reminds us that we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ. The refrain of the hymn for today is from this same book, 5:15 and 12:7-10 “For the sake of Christ, I willingly accept my weakness and my trials, for when I am powerless, than I am strong.” This weekend, I offer you “Sing Ye a Joyful Song” from Dvorak that ties in with the psalm response of the day, “Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.” I will present it as a prelude at 10 a.m. Here is a recording of the music I will present. https://dioceseofcheyenne.sharefile.com/d-s3f6aedee2f2d45b8a11f347b0b16a1f2
The entrance hymn ties into both the psalm and gospel parable of the scattering and the sowing of the seed. From a mustard seeds humble beginning, it produces much fruit, similar to our life span however long or short that life span may be.
