Come, O Holy Spirit Come! And from your celestial home, Shed a ray of light divine! We see the light of the Holy Spirit shed, in the brave parent who rescued his daughter and several others from gunfire in the Texas school shooting. We see the light of the Holy Spirit, in the possibility of Roe vs. Wade being reversed. We see the light of the Holy Spirit in the brave patriots who have remained in Ukraine, trying to secure their freedom. Where do I see the light of the Holy Spirit?
Come, O Father of the poor! Come source of all our store! Come, within our bosoms shine. We find the Holy Spirit in the least among us. We find the Holy Spirit, when we clear away the clutter, and messiness of our lives by putting on the attitude of Christ. What can I eliminate in my life to make more room for the Holy Spirit?
You, of comforters the best; You, the soul’s most welcome guest; Sweet refreshment here below. It is a part of the human condition to seek pleasure or relief from the stresses in life. How do I relieve stress in a healthy productive way? In so doing, am I welcoming the Holy Spirit?
In our labor, rest most sweet; Grateful collness in the heat; Solace in the midst of woe. Can I find relief even in the midst of hardship and pain?
O most blessed light divine, Shine within these hearts of yours, And our inmost being fill Where you are not, we have naught, Nothing good in deed or thought, Nothing free of taint of ill. Heal our wonds, our strength renew; On our dryness pour your dew; Wash the stains of guilt away; Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray. What needs changing in my life? How can I help others to have a change of heart?
On the faithful, who adore, And confess you, evermore. In your seven fold gift descend; Out of the seven gifts, the Spirit brings, what gift am I in most need? Give them virtue’s sure reward; Give them your salvation, Lord, Give them joys that never end. Amen. Aleluia! Do I take time to pray for others? Do I pray for those in most need? Do I pray for the poor souls in purgatory? Do I pray for my loved ones, living and dead and those who I encounter on a daily basis? Do I pray for my enemies? Do I pray for leadership in our church and country?
