I love the month of March because of March Madness.  It is that crazy time of year where the best college basketball teams matchup head to head with the race to the finish.  It is always exciting to see what teams will survive.
 
In a way, Lent is also a race to the finish.  Unlike the championship trophy, the prize is salvation in Christ.  This Sunday, as we spring forward, we also get a glimpse of the “Light” that is to come when Christ will conquer sin and death by rising from the dead. 
 
In this road to the finish, where will that road take us.  We may be surprised as the route we take. This can be completely different than the one we designed in our heads.  Similarly, there may be some teams in the NCAA tournament that will rise above the rest, some may not achieve what they desire this year, but like Lent, it is a work in progress that takes time. 
Spring is coming soon.  Easter Sunday is almost here.  A new champion will be crowned. 
 
Will we finish the race after much struggle and careful strategizing? 
Will we have what it takes to win?
