Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name. Phil 2:8-9
This gospel acclamation sung on Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord by the cantor summarizes the triumph of Jesus on the cross. Notice this biblical passage from scripture begins, “Christ BECAME obedient”. Through prayer and acceptance of the Father’s will, Christ BECAME obedient. So, we are called to be obedient to the Father’s will in the lives we live. That means even to accept suffering and hardships. As we journey through this Holy Week together, let us be strengthened in the resolve to become obedient to the will of the Father, and let us do this for the sake of the sorrowful passion of the Lord. “We adore you, O Christ and we praise you, because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world!” Here is the music to be sung at the majority of Masses this weekend.
