This weekend, we celebrate “Gaudete Sunday” (Latin Gaudete, “to rejoice” from the Entrance Antiphon) to stress the joy of anticipating the Lord’s coming. Winter returns on December 21 and so we stand between the darkness and light in more ways than one. John the Baptist’s life mission was to bring others out of darkness into the light. His ministry was dimmed so that Jesus ministry could shine forth. We see glimmers of hope in our world, with the promising vaccine to bring us back into more familiar ways of living our lives. Nevertheless, we embrace our present reality. Here is the music to presented at most Masses this weekend. The hymn numbers can be found on the music ministry page. Here is the music from our digital library. Please join in singing on the refrain of the hymns and Mass parts when you gather for liturgy at the Cathedral.
