The breath of God is often associated with the Holy Spirit. I suppose the reason for this is the association between breath and life. Where there is God, there is life. There is mystery also that surrounds breath, for breath is invisible. Breath is something we sense, not with our eyes, not with our noses, but with our ears and, if we hold out our hand, we can feel breath. I think of the breath of God, as gentle, peaceful, ever present. How comforting! Awareness of this presence is the key. This weekend, this hymn, set to an Irish melody, will be sung as the gifts are presented and prepared. Here is all of the music for this weekend.
