From the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy: Chapter II Line 47 and 48 states:-
“At the Last Supper, on the night when he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his body and blood. He did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the centuries until he should come again and in this way to entrust to his beloved Bride, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection.”
On this weekend, the 6
th Sunday of Easter, and next week, Ascension Sunday, we will be singing, “One Sacrifice of Christ” by Rick Modlin and Robert Feduccia. Here is the hyperlink.

The third verse states, “One banquet richly set for all God’s holy people. We will dine in joy and peace, and our song will never cease, praising the Lamb upon the throne.”
With grateful hearts, we come to this banquet of love each Sunday and are invited to the feast every day of the week if we so desire. In so doing, we build up the Body of Christ, and we ourselves become transformed. For just as Christ, truly present in this memorial sacrifice, so do we offer our very selves to conform to his divine will.
The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy goes on to say in paragraph 48:
“The Church, therefore, earnestly desires that Christ’s faithful, when present at this mystery of faith, should not be there as strangers or silent spectators, on the contrary, through a good understanding of the rites and prayers, they should take part in the sacred service conscious of what they are doing, with devotion and full involvement. They should be instructed by God’s word and be nourished at the table of the Lord’s body; they should give thanks to God, by offering the immaculate Victim, not only through the hands of the priest, but also with him, they should learn to offer themselves as well; through Christ the Mediator, they should be formed day by day into an ever more perfect unity with God and with each other, so that finally God may be all in all. “
When we are more consciously aware of these mysteries of our faith, we can make the world a better place.
