Last week, at the September Institute, the diocesan leaders continued to review the National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry written in 1987. The vision of this plan is three fold: evangelizing, communitarian and missionary in nature. The goal of our diocese is to work toward integration vs. assimilation.
With this in mind, at the Cathedral of St. Mary, we are incorporating at least one bilingual hymn on most Sundays in this season of Ordinary Time at the majority of the weekend Masses.
Here are a list of bilingual hymns in our hymnal that we have introduced or will be introducing in the near future:
Breaking Bread:
“Christ Be our Light”
“Ven al Banquete/Come to the Feast”
“Para Amar Como Tu”
“Gusten y Vean/Taste and See”
“Vayan al Mundo”
“Pan de Vida”
“Pescador de Hombres”
“Amor de Dios/O Love of God”
Spirit and Songs: “Unidos”
