In the hymn “Worthy is the Lamb” by Ricky Manalo, we sing in the first verse: Worthy are you, O Paschal Lamb. Wisdom and strength belong now to you. You laid down your life and died upon the cross: we’ve become a people of hope.
On this Ascension Sunday, we are a hopeful people. All our hope lies in the paschal mystery. All our hope centers on this self-sacrificing love of Jesus. It leads to the question, how do I identify as a person of hope? In my interaction with others, do I have a hopeful message or instead do I give into to pessimism and despair?
