After the trying year we have experienced universally, we can relate to the words of Job in today’s first reading perhaps more than ever before. “Is not man’s life on earth a drudgery?” Like Job, I am sure many of you through this pandemic have spent some restless nights. Indeed, there have been days, when you may have felt hopeless. You may have even wondered if you would see happiness again! It is at these times that try our souls, that we recognize more than ever that time is fleeting, to savor each moment. It is in times like these that Lord carries us, He does not abandon us. Now more than ever, Jesus is calling us to service, to be present to one another in a deeper way. It is our baptismal call. Jesus works in and through us to stamp out evil and to speak and live the truth of the Gospel. We are the hands and feet of Christ. Through prayer and action, we can make a difference.
