In order to rest in the Lord, we have to trust in the Lord. In the gospel reading today, Peter’s trust was weak when he tried to walk on water against the strong wind. Jesus replies, “O You of little faith, why did you doubt?” After they got into the boat, the wind died down.” (Matthew 14:22-33) The lyrics of the refrain of “Be Not Afraid” by Dufford says, “Be Not Afraid. I go before you always. Come, follow me. And I will give you rest”. To achieve rest in the Lord, we also need to quiet our brain and rid ourselves of all distractions, even if this is for a short couple of minutes. We need that assurance throughout the day. So, let us take moments of each day, to rest in the Lord.
