The hymn “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing” uses the ASH GROVE melody. It was written by Omer Westendorf (1916-1997) . The ASH GROVE is a traditional Welch melody. The Concluding Rite of the liturgy ends with the priest celebrant saying, “Go….” Having received the Eucharist, we now become living and moving temples of Christ’s body. We therefore are “sent” out into the world to be God’s missionary disciples. We do this in a most complete way by our witness to the faith and to the Gospel message. We perform spiritual and corporal works of mercy. We take care of each other. The extension of liturgy is charity, justice, and evangelization. In so doing, we give “honor to Christ and his name that we bear.”
