Matthew 24:42a, 44 states “Stay awake and be ready! For you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” This is the gospel verse proceeding Luke’s gospel Chapter 12 this weekend.
Often I am drowsy when I get to bed too late and wake up early. In such cases, I usually try to take a short afternoon nap. When I awake, I feel recharged for the day. For me, it is this way when receiving the sacraments, especially, the sacrament of the Eucharist. When I feel spiritually lacking, I turn to the sacraments to be recharged. As a musician, if I do this with a song in my heart, I can face the challenges that the day may bring. If only every day could begin with Holy Mass! It will be like that when we see the Lord face to face at the end of our lives. It is this presence we hope for, and it is this presence that we should desire above all!
