Psalm 34 (33): 11 Communion Antiphon for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time The rich suffer want and Go hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no blessing
This passage ties in to the first verse of this same hymn, “Glory, Glory to God most high, glory blessing and praise. With one voice, O people rejoice in our God, who hears the cry to all those who seek.” Our God is a God of all people, no matter what their age, language, race or way of life. God seeks all out to bring his love upon us. This is why we are thankful and rejoice all our days. We partake in the Eucharistic banquet on earth, as we prepare for seeing God face to face for all eternity. Let us not lose sight and treat all as if we are seeing Christ face to face.
1 John 3:2 The alternate Communion Antiphon for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
When the Lord appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
This passage ties into the third verse of the hymn, “Taste and See” by Bob Hurd “Oh the Love of God! Becomes flesh or our flesh, so that we might live in glory. “
We become what we receive. When we partake of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, we become like Christ to one another. When death comes to our door, we have the assurance that we shall become like Him and live in glory. In it lies the mystery of our faith. It is beyond our comprehension, the love and mercy of God. When we accept the invitation, the promise is eternal life.
