Pope Francis has declared this Sunday, “Word Sunday”. We hear from the Book of the Prophet Jonah in the First Reading that the Word of God came to Jonah. Jonah proclaims to all of Ninevah to repent of their sins. In Mark’s gospel today, Jesus proclaims the Gospel too, and with the same message, to repent. We like the Ninivites and the Apostles are to live the Good News by leaving our sins behind and learn how to forgive others. For when we do so, we are forgiven by our God. Psalm 34 call on us: “Let us together extol his name” and “Taste and See the goodness of the Lord” (“Gusten y Vean, que bunas el Senor”). We will sing this refrain at communion time this weekend. Here is the music selections for this weekend. Please join in singing on the refrains and Mass parts when you come to Mass or sing these hymns with those around you if you are homebound. https://bit.ly/35V65GO “Praise to You, O Christ our Savior” will be sung at most Masses for prelude. Reflect on verse 4. This verse talks about unity and forgiveness in this Christian Unity Week . https://bit.ly/2XsUoSX January 23 and 24 Hymns
