Te Deum Part IV “Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you: Father, of majesty unbounded, your true and only Son, worthy of all worship, and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide. “
As we conclude the Christmas season with the Epiphany and the Baptism of the Lord, we recognize the universality of our God, revealed to us in the flesh, confirmed by the voice of God the Father, united with God the Holy Spirit, in the words, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am will pleased,” (Mark 1:11). We recognize the Trinitarian presence at all time and in all places for eternity.
The Church is we his members, united by our baptism to the Christ, who was baptized by John in the Jordan. It is this Christ that was made known to the Kings of the Orient, who is made known at the Wedding of Cana, and who is made known to us in the Eucharist. In the Christmas verse number 4, of “Bread of Life” by Farrell, we sing, “With our own eyes we see, with our own ears we hear, the salvation of all the world, God’s incarnate Word.” We see with our eyes Christ among his faithful members who are the church, we see Christ also in the stranger, in the poor and those most in need, and most especially in the Eucharistic host we receive at each Mass. We hear the Good News proclaimed in the scriptures we hear at each Mass. May we like the Magi, set out on a journey, and upon recognizing the divine presence, be attracted to that presence like a magnet. May we cling to that presence and never let go!
May the spirit of Christmas, live on in our hearts as we bow down in worship to our one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit blessed forever more!
