Spiritual Reflection for the 2nd Sunday of Lent (March 12 and 13) “From the shining cloud, the Father’s voice is heard, this is my beloved Son, hear him.” In the gospel reading this 2nd Sunday of Lent, we find Peter, John and James on a mountain top with Jesus, who took them there to pray. As Jesus was praying, his disciples saw “his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white.” He was transfigured—a word meaning “transformed into something more beautiful or elevated.” So, when the Father says, “this is my beloved Son, hear him,” we as his followers cry out in song: “Transfigure us, O Lord. Break the chains that bind us. Speak your healing word [and we will “hear” you]. Where you lead we’ll follow. ….To the holy city, Jerusalem, you go, Face set toward the ending, the cross to be your throne. Shall we journey with you and share your paschal road?”
