“I am the good shepherd, says the Lord, I know my sheep, and mine know me. “ John 10:1 Indeed we all act like sheep on many occasions, when it comes to the things that concern our spiritual welfare. Our shepherd understands us when we venture out from the flock to eat of the forbidden pasture. His patience and love are infinite. He is always ready to go after us when we stray too far; his voice is constantly reaching out to us in missions, retreats, sicknesses, crosses and other ways. How many times have we felt his loving grace calling and helping us back to the safety of his fold? When we sing verse 1 of Gift of Finest Wheat, "As when the shepherd calls his sheep.." it reinforces St. John's words. Do not shut your ears to His call. He gives us all we need. -Julie Bolin, pianist and choir member
