The Church is Christ. We are members of the one church that forms His Body. Therefore, we are the Body of Christ. As we are reminded in scripture from Corinthians 10:16-17; 12:4, 12-13, 20 and Galatians 3:28 and Ephesians 4:4-6, we, though many, are one Body. We bring our varying gifts to the table.
We are united to share in one another’s joys and sorrows. When we sing as one body, we support each other. When we sing in varied languages, when we present various styles and when we include a mixture of instruments, we celebrate diversity among the members. We express, through music, our concern for one another. We hold each other up. We are broken, but the joy of the Gospel reminds us that through the mercy and love of God, we are forgiven.
When we receive the Eucharist, we do so with thankful hearts. We come to the table with contrite hearts and minds. Our active participation allows us to enter more deeply into the mysteries we celebrate.
Let us go forth with a song in our hearts as we cooperate with God, for the salvation of the world is at stake.
