When Jesus Comes to be Baptized
This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord which is the bridge connecting the Christmas Season with the season of Ordinary Time.  Like Jesus, in this Christmas season, and as described in the first verse of this hymn, we leave behind “the hidden years”, the “years of safety and of peace, to bear the sins of humankind.”  We savor our sense of safety and peace which we find most completely rooted in Christ.  We stand tall like the martyrs against injustice and hate and put on the armor of love.
