This week, let us focus in on the first point.
We sing because it is our baptismal right Our baptism initiated us into God’s family. Therefore, the baptized have a right to be actively involved with the music at Mass. Music ministers’ top responsibility is to seek out the active participation of the baptized by inviting their participation in every aspect of the liturgy. Therefore, music selected should be in the best interest of the assembly as a whole. Music should be well rehearsed, music should tie into the readings, and music should be singable and in a comfortable key. When this happens in such a way, life can be transformed more clearly into the image of Christ himself.
Next week’s focus will be “We Sing because we are the Body of Christ.”
