In the Anima Christi, we recite the words “within your wounds, hide me.” The Lord is our refuge. In times of trouble, he is there by our side. He heals the sick and mends the broken. He provides peace that only He can give. On the Feast of Corpus Christi, we will hear the words “I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord,” sung in the responsorial psalm. The Lord has done wonderful things for us. He died to save us from our sins and gave us the key to everlasting life. Our role in life is to know, love, and serve God in this life so that we may be happy with Him in the next. When we pray “within your wounds, hide me” we are asking him to shelter us. We have faith in God and trust that He will be there for us. We call upon His name and He hides us within His wounds. He shelters us from all evil, but if we reject His salvation, we are doomed to spiritual ruin.
