How beautiful, this Sunday’s Gospel acclamation, “Speak Lord, your servant is listening…” (1 Samuel 3:9) spoken by Samuel when he was awakened by God’s voice while sleeping in the temple of the Lord where the ark of God was, and “you have the words of everlasting life” (John 6:68) spoken by Peter in answer to Jesus’ question to the Twelve asking if they also wanted to leave with the crowds. As with Samuel, we are blessed to join in “listening” to God’s Word today and in “choosing” as Peter did, to love and serve our Lord and our God as we sing: ”Jesus, God and Lord of all, come to us we pray. Thus united in your love, may we live this day.” (Hymn #207: Humbly, Lord, We Worship You)
