As the church year begins to wind down, we have come to the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. The first reading today speaks clearly to all of us married men about the value of a worthy wife. Karen and I have been blessed with 15 years of marriage and are blessed with our 6 year old daughter and extended family. One thing that this pandemic has allowed us to do is to spend more time with each other. It has also allowed us time to recognize the many blessings we have, and how we often we take those blessings for granted. Out of all of the gifts and talents we possess, the most deserving of our gratitude is God our Father, the creator, Jesus Christ, the son, the Savior, in the communion of the Holy Spirit. This is the Good News we speak about in our sending forth hymn this weekend, “Go Out, Go Out” by Curtis Stephen. https://bit.ly/36iAcYa Dona Nobis Pacem (traditional round) https://bit.ly/32T8pM6 Give Us Your Peace
To all the Veterans who have fought for our freedoms, we salute you with the hymn, “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory” as sung by Patrice Pillivant this past weekend. For a postlude this past weekend, organist Stephanie Barth played an abbreviated English version of “Carillon” by Louis Vierne (1870-1937) from his 24 Pieces in Free Style. As a bonus to Patrice’s rendition, Stephanie shares this recording with us.
