It is important for musicians during the season of Advent to find some quiet time. We may not find ourselves wandering in the desert like John the Baptist or waiting anxiously for a birth of a child in a cattle stall like Mary and Joseph, but if we seek a place to be just 10 minutes each day to spend in quiet, we can better prepare our hearts to receive the Christ child this Christmas.
We live with noise as we prepare music for Christmas. We sing beautiful hymns for Advent. Another idea, would be to spend some time reviewing the text of some of these beautiful pieces in silent reflection, maybe in front of the blessed sacrament or in a quiet place at home.
