“Through his holy prophets he promised of old, that he would save us from our enemies, from the hands of all who hate us. “(Luke 1:71)
We continue exploring the Canticle of Zechariah with these words from Luke’s gospel. Do you really believe that God can save us from anything including our enemies? Our God has an unblemished record as history would dictate to us. God remains faithful to his covenant of love, even when we feel the world is against us. In our baptismal promises, we denied Satin and all his evil promises. In our baptism, we were set free from all fear and anxiety. God created the universe out of love, and we are the objects of his creation. We are totally and completely dependent upon God, the prime mover of the universe. If this statement is true, we are called to reconciliation with our enemies and for those that persecute us. We do so out of obedience to the Father, who sent us the Son who forgave those who crucified him. In imitation of Jesus, we must forgive with our hearts.
“God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19)
