As we honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary in this month of August, and as we celebrate this month the Holy Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, and the Queenship of Mary on August 22, I decided to do some research on the “Salve Regina” chant.
Here is what I found.

Here is the music to the Salve Regina from our digital library. Click on the hyperlink and scroll to “congregational”. You can listen to the music and read the text with the English translation. The “Salve Regina” will be sung as a post-communion hymn at the Vigil Mass of the Assumption on Tuesday, August 14. It will also be sung on the solemn feast of the Assumption on Wednesday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Masses.

We turn to Mary, our queen, our mother of mercy, to be our life, our sweetness and our hope and to help us in our journey through life in this world, this “valley of tears”. We plead for her that when our earthly life is done, that she will show us the way to Jesus, when we shall at last see him face to face.
