The Gospel verse this Sunday reads, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord is anyone eats this bread, he shall live forever.”
These words of Jesus give us great hope. They are words of “the new and everlasting covenant “ (words of consecration at each Mass), that Jesus makes with the human race. Out of love, did Jesus, true God and true man, come to live among us and out of the love between the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit makes present to us the very body and blood of Christ at each Eucharistic celebration.
When we partake of this heavenly sacrament, our venial sins are forgiven. We become one with Christ our Lord. When we pass from this life to the Father, we become sharers in this mystery and live with the Triune God forever. Through God’s grace and mercy, we have hope! May the Body and Blood of the Lord sustain and make us whole!
