The gospel acclamation verse for this weekend reads, “In all circumstances, give thanks, for this is the will of God, for you in Christ Jesus” 1 Thessalonians. Ingratitude is the source of woundedness since with ingratitude comes selfishness. When not attended to, the wounds of selfishness fester and through selfish motives, we take in a lot more than we offer back to the Lord. In reverse, gratitude is the source of healing. When we are grateful, we become more sensitive of our surroundings and recognize more deeply our love for God and each other. True healing begins to replace revengeful attitudes, and the healing process begins. The second verse of “Healing River of the Spirit” written by Ruth Duck, states: Wellspring of the healing Spirit, Stream that flows to bring release, As we gain our selves , our senses, May our lives reflect your peace. Grateful for the flood that heals us, May your church enact your grace. As we meet both friend and stranger, May we see our Savior’s face.
