This week is the 16
th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Themes from the readings include: Prayer, Mercy, Perseverance, Kingdom of God, Guidance, Holy Spirit, Forgiveness, Strength of God’s Word. This week we hear three parables: the grain and the weeds, the mustard seed, and the yeast. We are reminded that a tiny mustard seed will grow into a tree, and that the yeast is only a starter for bread to rise, and that the kingdom of heaven requires work and patience. But the harvest will come- greater than our highest expectations.
If you are attending Mass in person this weekend, you are invited to sing on the refrains of the hymns and the Mass parts with face coverings. Below you will find some of the music you will hear at the Masses this weekend. Heritage Mass parts are used at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Mass of Renewal parts are used at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 Noon and 5:00 p.m. The hymns will be different than those listed at 5 p.m. If you are homebound, take some time to listen to or sing along with some of these hymns during the week. Hopefully, you will find it helpful to stay connected to your parish family.
This week, our parish youth choir has recorded, “Sing a New Song” by Dan Schutte. Enjoy!
Our featured cantor this week is Deb Kaiser. On this recording, Deb sings “How Great Thou Art”.
