In her column in
Today’s Liturgy magazine published by OCP on pg. 30, Elaine Rendler-McQueeney writes,
“Today, Roman Catholics begin Lent 2020. In the world of optometry, 20/20 refers to the clarity or sharpness of vision (visual activity). It is not an indication of perfect vision, for it cannot predict how well a person can see colored objects or movement. It is a static eyesight measurement taken while a person is sitting still in front of a chart.
Our ministry requires us to have vision. We need more than 20/20 vision to meet the musical needs of a Church that is moving and changing. “
She goes on to say, “Think sharper than 20/20. To repeat previous Lenten repertoire exactly might be similar to the static vision test. “
We will be introducing some new music this Lent. Here is a sample for Ash Wednesday.
